A new years poem

A resolution is made to be a better person
To strive and try to do anything but worsen
The condition we leave behind in the year that has past
But this resolution, how long will it last?
We say we will and should change for the better.
To imply that we get better with age.
But our own will and body does not follow our words
In a world where we are all actors upon a stage.
And I/we dismiss my/our resolution(s) within a week.
Saying, "I said it in the moment I was drunk.
But should we think about actually changing for the good
Now that is something that should be thought of
And not necessarily thunk.
