Sunshine, music and love

Where in the world did the bluebirds fly?
Did they, like your tears, fall upon the floor,
Only to be absorbed by the earth?

Where, oh where, did the sunshine go?
I waited for so long through the rain.
Under umbrellas, I was still,
As I was under you so many nights
My ozone layer to this earth,
keeping everything harmful out.

Why did the music go silent?
In those sweet and soulful,
Sometimes complex,
Sometimes simple melodies,
I found harmonies that resonated
With the souls of so many who felt alone.

Where could the love have gone?
Did it step out the door with you?
I think it did but it wasn't lost.
Out there, it changed
And turned
Into something
Or someone else.

But what I do know
Is now that the bluebirds have fallen;
The sunshine went away;
The music died down,
The one thing left to do
Is find that lost love.

I need to find that love because
I know that it's the only thing
That will bring the bluebirds to fly,
The sun to glow again and
The music to start singing
Within my soul once more.

Somewhere along the way

Somewhere again along the way
There lies hope in the creation of something
That leaps and travels beyond every boundary.
Somewhere along the way,
I might create this and
Somewhere along the way
An impact would be made.
I just hope that somewhere along this way
I don't get lost then
Some time at the end
I'll leave this earth better when I fade.

SteamOS article for copyright purposes

SteamOS sees performance drop against Windows for gaming.

Steam has been the reigning champion when it comes to gamers and their gaming needs. They have had all the latest games available on the Steam store. Gamers can access their games from all over the world. They've given great discounts on games when it sales were on and Greenlight (for budding game developers) has had its share of success too. So what are we to expect when Steam wants to take it a step further with an entire operating system (OS) dedicated to gaming first and everything else later?

There are new SteamOS dedicated devices on the market and each device is meant to be kind of a PC-gaming console hybrid hooked up to the biggest game distribution service on the planet. Alienware, Syber and Zotac are currently the three manufacturers selling SteamOS machines. The Zotac steam machine looks the most impressive to us. Most notable about the offering from Zotac are the 4 HDMI ports and a Wi-Fi antenna to make sure it catches your Wi-Fi in your house. In terms of appearance, both the Syber and the Alienware are better looking devices that are sure to have any gamer visiting your house oohing and aahing for a few minutes. All the devices come bundled with a Steam controller to give you the feel of a console in your hands.

Unfortunately, these SteamOS devices aren't available in India but we should see it happening soon. Steam has already taken the first step in getting itself acquainted with an India market by introducing the Indian rupee as a currency we can pay in now. The prices of some games have also been altered to make them more accessible to the Indian market but apparently this hasn't happened for all games. Still, it's another step forward for gamers in India. Soon, we should see Steam machines hitting our shores but will it overpower the market leaders?

SteamOS is nothing without something to compare it to and Windows 10 is perfect for comparison because it's the latest version of Windows and most people who are into serious gaming use Windows when gaming on PCs. Let's get into the face-off, it's Steam OS vs. Windows 10.

In order to test performance out on both systems, the rig used had 8 GB of RAM running at 1600 MHZ, the GPU used was the Zotac Geforce GTX660 (2GB) w/ GeForce Game Ready Driver v. 358.91 and the processor used was the dual-core Intel® Pentium® Processor G3220 (3M Cache, 3.00 GHz). This isn't really a top-of-the-line system but it's enough to handle games from 2014 like Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Metro: Last Light Redux. Both operating systems were installed to run from different hard drives and use the same GPU. This minimizes OS interference in a dual boot setup.

Since SteamOS runs on Linux, it isn't easy to find a benchmark testing program that can accurately test both Linux and Windows on the same parameters. However, Geekbench does have the functionality to pull it off. As seen on the Ars Tehnica website, the performance on the SteamOS can't compare with the performance of Windows. The drop in performance is most notable when the settings are maxed out. In Ultra settings, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor  running on a display resolution of 1792 x 1120 held an atrocious average of 14.6 fps as compared to the stable and playable 34.5 fps on Windows.

This might be because most games are developed for use with DirectX which is made by Microsoft. SteamOS uses Linux and is more suited to the OpenGL platform. While Steam is popular as a distribution platform for games, we haven't seen many developers keeping SteamOS in mind as well as Windows. Until then, we will have to wait till game developers figure out how to optimize their games for SteamOS and Windows.

Hi, I just posted this here because this is the first article I've written on a freelance basis and to avoid getting screwed over, I wanted to publish it here first. After I get paid, I'll take it down with no worries. The site I wrote this for is called www.gamesandtechnology.in so wish me luck.

For security reasons: The Green Movie

From what I understand. Everything on your blog is copyright of you. So I wrote this screenplay and script and I want to make sure that nobody steals it or calls it theirs. So I'm putting it up here.  I'll remove it from here after I'm done with the shooting and editing

Story

Scene 1
I woke up today morning and had a cup of tea. Nothing New. I got my stuff and started my bike. Nothing New. Just when I thought it was going to be just another day, something caught my attention. I saw this tree and for some reason, the leaves looked . . . exceptionally green.
This got me thinking and today it had me obsessing about the colour green.

Scene 2
I try to ignore it as I make my way through the always endless stream of cars but traffic light turns from green to red. Green means go. Going implies moving and movement. Movements take you forward. Moving forward means progress. Green indirectly means progress. There that guy, do you see him, he’s wearing a green military fatigue print. Green fatigues are used to camouflage people in areas of thick vegetation. Fatigues are worn by soldiers in times of war. . . where people die. Green helps people kill other people. Though I don’t think that that guy was about to kill anybody or had the intention to do so. People probably wear green because looking at green things is good for your eyes or so I was told as a kid. I don’t know how far this is true but green money in my hands only seems to be really good for my eyes.

Scene 3
People at my workplace, I see them go green with envy. Becoming envious only makes you unhappy about what you have or makes you think about what you don’t. Green is associated with jealousy and being jealous, I guess. I still don’t understand why it’s called a green eyed monster.  I wonder what Shakespeare was thinking when he coined the term.

Scene 4
Due to the environment, we are told to go green any way we can. Some friends told me about a guy who literally went green. He turned green before he threw up. Poor guy had too much to drink. Green is an indication of sickness then.

Scene 5
People can turn green huh? Bruce Banner turns green when he gets angry. Then he turns into the Hulk. Wouldn’t that be great You turn green, wreak havoc everywhere and then blame it on somebody else. Green becomes a form of escape. I suppose it must be, the Green Arrow and the Green Lantern are heroes who have integrated the colour green as part of their identity to help people. But then there is also the Green Goblin who is Spider-man’s greatest enemy and is a villain. And what about the Skrull, they are aliens who are evil and want to control Earth. They also have green skin. Aliens used to be called little green men. I wonder if there is a connection.

Scene 6
For some reason, most of the girls I see tend to stay away from the colour green when it comes to their cosmetics. I’d like to se a woman with a full head of green hair or green face make-up or just green nail polish. Till date, I’ve not even seen even one of these things on a woman but I would like to. I wonder how many gods are green in colour. Krishna and Shiva are blue, Satan is portrayed red. Gods seem to stay away from the colour green to the best of my knowledge. Though in Ireland, they celebrate St. Patrick’s Day where for one whole day, one whole country pretty much venerates the colour green. To them, green is good.

Scene 7
What about green as a colour then? Well it is in the middle of a rainbow, just look at it. A rainbow is VIBGYOR. Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red. Three colours on the left and three colours on the right. I guess green then becomes an ambiguous fence sitter in a prism, an in-between. There are so many more green things out there and green means so much but why should it mean anything at all and can anybody actually have green?

Scene 8
I’m going to have my green now. It’s night so I’m away from the sun’s ultra VIOLET rays. My green is wrapped in white, gets rid of my BLUES, makes my eyes RED, it makes Coldplay’s YELLOW sound great and turns BLACK and GREY after burning bright ORANGE. This is grass that makes everything greener on my side.

Screenplay

Scene 1
Bedsheet thrown aside. Head raises from pillow. (Hair is only seen rising upwards). Tea being sipped. Shirt Buttoned. Belt tightened. Keys grabbed. Helmet grabbed. Keys in ignition being turned. Helemt looks upwards. Reflection is seen in sunglasses of leaves. Then the leaves are seen. Zoom in slowly.

Scene 2
Traffic Light turns from green to red. Mirror being checked and adjusted. Person walking by wearing green fatigues on their body. Camera frame stops. Frame zooms in on the fatigues. Stock Footage of soldiers being trained while wearing military fatigues. Complete Darkness but a hand is seen picking up a gun (top view). Then side view of same hand raising the gun straight and into the frame. Front view of the barrel of the gun. Gun Fires.
Cut back to rear view of the mirror where frame stopped. Frames continue as normal and camera zooms out. Cut to open palms of a persons hand. Stop motion of many 500 rupee notes piling on top of each other. Half a mouth is seen turning into a closed mouth smile. Shot of eyes going wider.

Scene 3
Location: Office. View from behind narrators head with only his shoulders seen as he steps into frame. The frame shows two women and one man. The man is further in front. Camera shuttling between the subjects now: One woman is drinking coffee from a mug and the other is sitting at a computer. Both are looking at the guy doing his own thing. Coffee drinking girl now realizes that other girl is also looking and turns her head to look at computer girl. Computer girl now realizes that coffee girl is looking at her so she also turns away from guy and looks at coffee drinking girl. They briefly make eye contact then both turn away to do their own thing. Computer girl quickly looks up to send an evil glance in coffee girls direction. Coffee girl rolls her eyes in the opposite direction of the guy.

Scene 4
Main character has a semi-placid, semi-interested look on his face as two other guys are looking at another guy talk very earnestly. Talking guy puts one hand to his stomach and another to his mouth to cover it to show puking. Cut to stop-motion of another guy in a bathroom about to throw-up. Angle changes to show him throw up in a toilet in normal frames.

Scene 5
Keys turn in the lock. Door opens. Keys are dropped on table. Out of focus shot of main character plopping down in couch. Angle change to show him watching the Hulk transform. Next angle changes to show his comic books next to him as he picks them up. Over the shoulder angle of the comics mentioned being shown. The character then looks up from the comics to see the alien on a skateboard resting against a wall.

Scene 6
Girl mannequin head is seen. Stop-motion now of green wig appears then Green eye-shadow, then green blush, then finally green lipstick and finally green nail polish. Mannequin is shown to either be a picture in a tab on mozilla on a computer or he is putting the mannequin down on a table.

Variable Scene: Either show images of Krishna then Shiva then Satan etc. shown in Mozilla tabs or a silhouette of him standing in front and snapping his fingers to change an image each time.

Scene 7
He goes to sit at a table where a CD is seen turned upside down next to a sheet of paper. The word VIBGYOR is written in semi-stop-motion. Then Camera holds still in new angle to show a hand laying out paint bottles or paintbrush smearing a different colour below each letter. Hand reaching in to pick up a CD and then camera shows the prism of light moving on the CD.

Scene 8
View from the roach end of a joint but only showing the paper in the frame as weed drops into the semi-circularly curved paper.  Stop-motion of the indigo and blue colours disappearing from the frame. Red eyes blinking. Hand lifts up Coldplays album turns around and then cut to the song Yellow being focused on. Ash falls onto an ashtray (top view). Shot of the burning end of a joint when a drag is being taken. Final shot is a single marijuana leaf falling onto a blank white background.

Two

If all life on this planet disappeared
And there was only two
I wonder about my heart
Would it still beat for you?

Breakings

The breakings of the human soul are drowned in others deeds
These breakings convolute us and detract us from our needs
The artist will always be the victim in his own mind
Even if the façade shows this being as humble and as kind

Oh there are so many roads all waiting to be traversed
So many roads to be picked at our much valued discretion
Yet we are spoilt for choice and even portray ourselves cursed
But remain doubtful and clueless as to our own transgression

The child will see a field but
A field is not within his sight
His world will form his images
Be them of beauty or of plight

Nature’s bounty doth abound
It gives few, epiphanic or aesthetic pause
The vision of others in power shall hold
Destruction in justificatory cause

Screaming are those bodies that matter simply aught
The collective conscience can be assuaged
By bleeding our hearts then turning our backs
Both accomplished within a single thought

There is much we can do and much we cannot
We have these damned lives we must lead
There is just one entity which cannot be forgot
Thy self, our embraced 21st century creed.

evil

The stories of the useless are useless are best kept untold
The bad drug that you are is best kept unsold.
You don't get people high, you leave them despairingly low
You perceive yourself as good but the truth, we all fucking know

You see beauty, I see an ugly soul
I feel hate while you feel around for a hole
